Dog Driving A CarI will never forget a couple of months before our wedding… My fiancé and I were on our way down to La Jolla, which is where we were going to be married. It was on a Friday and it was blazing hot. I decided to dress casually and lightly, wearing only a tank top, short shorts and flip flops. We were all packed up and ready to go!

Because we departed for our trip in Friday afternoon traffic, we didn’t arrive to our hotel until after 5 o’clock. We parked our car, checked into the hotel and then opened the trunk and started taking out the suitcases— except that my suitcase wasn’t in there!

We ran around the car to see if it was in the back seat and it wasn’t there! We went back to the trunk and looked under the emergency tire well to see if maybe it fell under it— what do you know… it wasn’t there! :-) We looked at each other in astonishment… what were we thinking?!

By this time it was 5:30pm on a Friday evening and all of the stores were closing soon. We were trying to figure out where I could buy something to wear for the weekend! We drove around town, saw a Victoria’s Secret still open and my fiancé parked in front and, referring to my extensive shopping expertise, exclaimed,

“You have trained your whole life for this; make me proud!”

SO, I ran into Victoria’s Secret, with less than 25 minutes to shop, and grabbed a few panties, bras and tops. They didn’t have much more than that in the store! I quickly paid for them; then we rushed to the nearest mall, where I frantically looked for a pair of jeans. I quickly tried them on, paid for them and ran back in record time. I energetically asked my fiancé, “Did I make you proud sweetie?” He smiled from ear to ear and we both started laughing hysterically!

The moral of this story is that we took a challenging situation, that could have been stressful, and turned it into an adventure that we still laugh about all these years later! :-)

By the way, when we returned home on Sunday evening, my lonely suitcase was at the top of the staircase! :-)
