Thanksgiving… What does that mean to you?
To me, it means giving thanks for everything that I have been blessed with: my health, my children, my
husband, my home, my business, my clients, and the list goes on and on. Even though I am grateful and give thanks every single day of the year, Thanksgiving is such a special day for family and friends to gather and share a special meal with. This Thanksgiving, we are having additional family members coming from out of town who will be staying with us. It makes Thanksgiving even more special, the more family and friends who gather around the table. It is a wonderful time to share what is going on in each other’s lives, to try special dishes made from scratch, and it’s really just all about people- people who mean the most to you.
The first Thanksgiving was celebrated by the Pilgrims’ successful harvest in the New World, inviting a group of Native American allies to share in their meal, in November of 1621. We have carried on this tradition of community and sharing with family and friends over the years.
It is also a time to reach out to others and those who are less fortunate. Donating time, food, and money to those people who are in need. It is a time to give back to our community- a day when everyone puts differences to the side and enjoys the camaraderie, the sharing and the giving!
